El Dorado is open. It's a virtual world built on Swop, live in beta right now at swopme.co/eldorado — and you can be inside it in about a minute.

Getting in

1. Open swopme.co/eldorado and sign in with your swop.id from the Swop app. No new account, no password to invent.

2. Approve it on your phone — Swop app, Wallet settings → Wallet connections, scan the code.

3. Got a headset? Sign in on your phone, then enter the short code the headset shows you. You never type a password with a controller.

Why we built it this way

In almost every game you've played, you don't own your stuff. You hold a licence to use it, and the terms usually say so outright. The publisher can close your account and your inventory goes with it — not because anyone stole it, but because it was never in your hands. It lived in their database, and your account was the key. Most publishers also forbid selling or moving items outside their own systems, so the way out is controlled by the same people who control the way in.

The clearest example isn't an economy. It's a city. Some developers rebuilt GTA III and Vice City from the outside so they'd run on modern machines. The projects shipped no game content — you had to own the original game for them to work. They were taken down anyway. Open the original repository today and you get "451 — Unavailable for Legal Reasons", an error code originally meant for censorship.

Take either side of that fight. The part that matters is simpler: everyone who bought that game only ever had a licence to it, and the city they drove around in existed because someone else allowed it to. That's the normal condition of virtual worlds.

What changes in El Dorado

You arrive holding your own keys. Swop is fully self-custodial — keys are generated and held on your device, and Swop never holds them. Transactions are gas-sponsored, so nobody has to go buy a token before they can do anything. The wallet works across Solana, Ethereum, Base and Polygon rather than being a balance inside one company's game. And losing your phone isn't losing anything: log in with your email on a new phone and your wallet comes back.

What we're not claiming

Self-custody isn't the same as legal ownership. It changes what can be done to your access — it can't be quietly frozen, and it isn't confined to one platform's trading system. It does not settle what legal rights you hold in a virtual item; that depends on the terms you agreed to and your jurisdiction, and the law there is unsettled. Also worth stating plainly: Swop has not commissioned a third-party security audit to date.

It's a beta, and it moves weekly

We mean beta literally, not as a legal cushion. Things will change under you, some will break, features will move. Improvements ship every week — we'd rather build it in front of you. Beta describes the state of the software; it doesn't move the consequences of rough edges onto you.
